Maliyadeva Balika savour Milo Cup

Maliyadeva Balika, Kurunegala won the overall championship of the Milo-sponsored Sri Lanka Schools Netball Championship at Polonnaruwa on Monday. They were the champions in the Under 17 and Under 13 age categories and settled for the runner-up position in the Under 15 age category after conceding a one-point defeat at the hands of Musaeus College, Colombo

Maliyadeva beat Mahamaya Balika, Kandy 17-11 to win the Under 17 title. In a thrilling Under 15 final, Musaeus College, Colombo denied them the title with a nail-biting 14-13 victory. In the Under 13 final Maliyadeva beat Siri Piyaratana MMV, Padukka 12-8.

The former champions, Holy Family Convent, Kurunegala had the consolation of winning the Under 19 title. They beat Holy Family Convent, Kalutara 38-18 in the final.
