Maldives appoints new Ambassador to Sri Lanka

The President of the Maldives, Dr. Muizzu submitted nominations for the ambassadorial positions of three countries to the Parliament last Tuesday (6).Accordingly, President Muizzu put forth names for the ambassadorial appointments to Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Belgium and the European Union, following Article 14 of the Maldives’ Foreign Service Act.

The nominees presented by the President are Masood Imad the Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Maryam Shabina Ahmed the Ambassador to Malaysia and Geela Ali the Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union (EU)

Masood Imad, who is designated as the ambassador to Sri Lanka, previously served as the Press Secretary of the Government of Mohamed Waheed.

Geela Ali, the nominee for Belgium and the EU, formerly held the position of Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health and has prior experience within the foreign ministry.
