The Registrar of the Fort Magistrate’s Court, arrested on 13 Oct., following a complaint by Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage, was yesterday (25) further remanded until 05 Nov.

The CID arrested the female registrar following several allegations, including forgery.

She is alleged to have forged documents indicating that a travel ban imposed on a suspect had been lifted by the court. Investigations have revealed that the forged documents were sent to the Controller General of Immigration & Emigration, asking him to permit the suspect to travel overseas.

A second suspect was arrested in connection with the incident on 17 October, and remanded until 25 October. He has been described as manager of an insurance company that was defrauded by the person on whose behalf the Registrar submitted forged documents to the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration.
