Madurika Joseph Weninger new Lankan Ambassador to Egypt
The Committee on High Posts of Parliament has given its approval for seven important appointments, including Madurika Joseph Weninger as the new Sri Lankan Ambassador to Egypt.
The approved appointments are as follows: Madurika Joseph Weninger has been appointed as the Ambassador-designate of Sri Lanka to Egypt, bringing her extensive experience in the Sri Lanka Foreign Service to represent the nation in this important diplomatic role, W. M Dharmapala as the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh, H. M.B.P Herath as the Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism and Lands, Major General (Retd) G. A. Chandrasiri as Chairman of Airports and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Pvt) Limited, Dr. S. W. M. Hettige as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Institute of Bio Technology (Pvt) Limited, B.M.L Pathirana as Chairman of the Sri Lanka Press Council, and I. S. Wijesekara as the Chairman of Sri Lanka State Plantation Corporation.
The Committee on High Posts convened in Parliament recently under the Chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, with the presence of MPs Johnston Fernando, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, and Dharmalingam Siddharthan.
