Lumbini, St. Anthony’s, De Mazenod record big wins

Lumbini College, St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota and De Mazenod College, Kandana registered big victories in their Under 19 matches concluded on Wednesday.

Lumbini’s nine wickets victory over Zahira, was their third successive win this month as they consolidated their top position in the Under 19 Division I Tier ‘B’ tournament points table.

A combined bowling effort helped them reduce Zahira to 154 and 115 runs respectively in the two innings. Lumbini needed just over five overs to knock off the win need.

In a traditional encounter, St. Anthony’s Katugastota restricted Ananda to 104 and 158 runs in the two innings to record ten wickets win. Kaveesha Piyumal did most of the damage bagging seven wickets, while Thisara Ekanayake grabbed four wickets in the second innings.

In another traditional encounter, De Mazenod earned a hard fought eight wickets win against St. Joseph Vaz’s College.
