Lokubandra dead

Former Speaker WJM Lokubandara passed away yesterday due to COVID-19. He was 79.

Lokubandara held several ministries in the government of Sri Lanka before his appointment as the Speaker.

Born on Aug 5, 1941 in Haputale, he was educated at Yahala-Bedda School, and later at the Bandarawela Central College.

He graduated from the University of Peradeniya, and obtained an external bachelor’s degree in Arts from the University of London. Lokubandara was a lawyer by profession.
