Lions donate necessities to LRH Cardiology Unita
The Lions Club of Colombo Oasis jointly with Lions Club of Negombo Orient of District 306B1 donated much-needed items to the Cardiology Unit of Lady Ridgeway Hospital for the use of mothers and children who are awaiting heart surgeries.
The items consisted of foodstuffs, books, colour pencils, crayons and diapers worth Rs. 100,000.
Dr. Shehan Perera, Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist, said the donation by the two clubs will be very useful for the mothers and children in the ward.
He said that as most patients are from poor families, they are not in a position to provide these items to their children. Furthermore, as visitors are not allowed due to the prevailing situation, they are unable to get food items from them either.
The stationery will be useful to the children to keep themselves occupied during their prolonged stay in the hospital, he said.
During tea time, mothers will be able to make tea for themselves and the children with the use of the items donated by the Lions.
Lion Dashika Gunawardena of Lions Club of Colombo Oasis took great efforts to make this project a success.
Lions Clubs International District 306 B1, District Governor Lion R. L Rajkumar PMJF MAF and Lion Lady Marian MJF were the chief guests on the occasion. Second Vice District Governor Lion Placidus Peter MJF, Cabinet Secretary Lion Dr. Jeewantha Perera, Region Chairperson Lion Divagar Maheswaran, Zone Chairpersons Lions Chithrani and Mahesh Silva and many Cabinet and Club Officers represented the two Clubs.
