Lions Club program on Prevention of Drug Abuse & HIV/AIDS

Lions Club of Dehiwela North of Lions Clubs International-District 306 A2 completed one of their continuous programs on Prevention of Drug Abuse & HIV/AIDS.

Realizing the need to create awareness among the youth, they launched the initiative in 1993/94, which still continues. Lion S. Ramachandran serves as District Chairperson of this program since its inception. Rotary club of Colombo Mid-City from District 3220 teamed up with the ongoing program in 2016/17.

The 27th Annual awards ceremony was held at the Lions Activity Centre, Vidya Mawatha, Colombo on March 21 with District Governor Lion Ajith Liyanage MJF as chief guest and Dr. Sarath M. Samarage as guest of honor.

President of SL FONGOADA, Dr. Samarage, Director, FISD, Ravi Kandiah, Rev. Father Jude Bernard Rodrigo and PCC Lion Duminda Munasinghe in their presentations stressed the need for active youth participation in the war against drug abuse.

Lion S. Ramachandran and Rotarian K. Arabhinthan were the co-chairpersons of this project under. the joint initiative of Lions International – District 306 A2 and Rotary International – District 3220.
