Life insurance agents agitate to obtain EPF, ETF benefits hitherto denied to them
An association that represents the interests of life insurance agents has called for Labour Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva’s intervention as some of its members have been denied both EPF and ETF.
A spokesperson for the Labour Ministry told The Island that a group of insurance agents recently made representations as regards continuing violation of their basic rights. The group explained in spite of repeated representations some companies declined to adhere with government directives in that regard.
The association of insurance agents comprises approximately 45,000 members.
Minister de Silva has directed Labour Commissioner Attorney-at-Law Prabath Chandrakerthi to take up the issue with relevant parties and to submit a report to him. Minister de Silva has assured them that action would be taken to provide them both EPF and ETF (SF)
