The famous Rajiv Sebastian is in the spotlight, once again…with his creations impressing many.

This time the well-known Maldivian singer, Sheru, has indicated to us that she loves the type of lyrics, and melody, that Rajiv comes up with.

Both his top creations, ‘Mage Konde Nathath,’ and the recent composition for Sri Lanka’s new singing sensation, Yohani de Silva – ‘Haal Massa’ (Viyole Viyole), have got Sheru very interested in his music.

Sheru says she is now very keen to have Rajiv work on an original for her.

“I’m really enthusiastic about singing one of his creations, and I’m going to work out a mash-up with him – combining English/Sinhala, and our Maldivian language (Dhivehi).”

Sheru went on to say that the music would centre around what the masses prefer in Sri Lanka, and the Maldives.

“I will discuss this scene with him so that we could come up with something interesting…something infectious that the majority would love to listen to,” said Sheru.

Rajiv, in the meanwhile, when told about Sheru’s plans, said he would love to work on an original for this particular artiste, and create an eye-catching video, as well.

Sheru, whose brother is the current Vice-President of the Maldives, is extremely popular in the local scene – having performed with several well-known bands, including the original Aquarius outfit, led by the dynamic bassist Benjamin (Benjy) Ranabahu, while they were in the UAE, on a long-time contract.

Sri Lanka was very much a part of Sheru’s showbiz career, since she based herself in Colombo, for her son’s schooling.

However, with the pandemic cropping up, Sheru had to leave for the Maldivies where she now performs a duo scene, with a Maldivian guitarist, at a tourist resort.

This vivacious singer, famous for her ‘Simply the Best’ and ‘All About The Bass,’ says she will be in Sri Lanka as soon as the current scene improves and the possibilities are there for her to perform and to keep her fans, and music lovers, entertained.

Rajiv Sebastian: Ready to create another special

“I truly miss Sri Lanka, and the entertainment scene, and the great time I used to have there.

“Yes, I’m waiting impatiently to return to Colombo.”

Referring to the local scene’s new find, Yohani de Silva and her mega hit song ‘Manike Mage Hithe,’ Sheru endorsed what everyone is saying about Yohani.

“She is, indeed, unique, and I simply lover her style, her vivaciousness, and the confidence, and the energy, that she brings into her performance.

“I would also like to add that I eagerly look forward to reading the Tuesday and Thursday editions of The Island as you keep us well informed of the happenings in the world of showbiz.”
