Lawyer denies accusations, questions HRCSL’s motive
Responding to the HRCSL statement, Attorney-at-law Senaka Perera yesterday (30) told The Island that he told the Committee of Inquiry (CoI) probing the incidents on 09 May and after it would have been wrong to use prisoners to attack Galle protesters.
Lawyer Perera maintained that he never directly accused the government of deploying prisoners. The civil society activist alleged that the HRCSL was pursuing a hostile agenda against him whereas nothing was done about lawmaker Lohan Ratwatte’s unauthorised entry into the Welikada and Anuradhapura prisons.
