Late Minister Gamini Dissanayake’s 82nd birth anniversary commemorated

President Ranil Wickremesinghe laid floral tributes at the statue of late Minister Gamini Dissanayake at Ananda Kumaraswamy Mawatha in Colombo on Wednesday (20) afternoon  to commemorate the late minister’s 82nd birth anniversary.

Addressing the gathering the President highlighted that without the pioneering efforts of the late minister to implement the Mahaweli project, Sri Lanka would not have achieved self-sufficiency in rice production nor would it have met its electricity demands.

The President also said that the Mahaweli A and B zones, previously overlooked by the Mahaweli project,will be developed, resulting in  significant benefits to the people residing in these areas.
