Lanza dares Namal and Sagara to vote against budget if they are disappointed with govt.
SLPP MP Nimal Lanza yesterday dared MPs Namal Rajapaksa and Sagara Kariyawasam to vote against the 2024 budget if they were appalled by the actions of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Speaking to journalists in Colombo, Lanza said Kariyawasam and Rajapaksa had said they were disappointed with the decisions taken by the government.
“However, it’s the SLPP that is keeping the government afloat. If Kariyawasam and Rajapaksa are so angry, they can vote against the budget, topple the government and go for fresh elections. At an election, people will let these MPs know how they are frustrated,” he said.
Lanza said that the current administration had been compelled to adopt unpopular measures to revive the economy ruined by the Gotabaya Rajapaksa government.
“MP Namal Rajapaksa says the government is not doing anything for the people. He is speaking as if he were born yesterday. He held ministerial portfolios in the Gotabaya Rajapaksa administration.” he said.
