Lahiru hammers 60 runs in 28 balls as St. Antony’s win

A quick-fire half-century by Lahiru Abeysinghe was the batting highlight of the day in the Under 19 Division I Tier ‘A’ limited overs tournament matches as St. Anthony’s Katugastota, Trinity, St. Thomas’, Matara, and Prince of Wales registered victories on Monday.

Induwara Galapitage and Kaveesha Piyumal took four wickets each for St. Anthony’s to restrict Gurukula for 131 runs before Abeysinghe hammered an unbeaten 60 runs to help them seal the victory with 30 overs to spare.

Abeysinghe cracked six sixes and three fours in his 60 which came in 28 balls.

There were other batting performances that helped teams record victories. Tharindu Amarasingha and Omesh Mendis scored half-centuries for Prince of Wales to cruise to five wickets victory over Nalanda. For the latter, a century by Rusiru Vilochana was in vain as others failed to back him.

In Tier ‘B’ matches, Lumbini, Thurstan, Isipatana, and St. Servatius’ registered victories.
