Kurera seeks another singles title

Ave Maria Convent, Negombo player Anjalika Kurera will seek yet another singles title when she meet Bishop’s College, Colombo player Saajida Razick in the Under 18 girls’ singles final of the Tennis Nationals as the duo won their respective semi-finals at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts on Tuesday.

Kurera, who regained the women’s open singles title earlier in the tournament, secured the Under 18 girls’ singles final spot when she beat Vishmi Serasinghe 6-0, 6-3 in her semi-final. Razick beat Tania Doloswala 6-2, 6-2 in her match.

In the Under -18 boys’ singles, Thehan Wijemanne and Kiran Vairavanathan will fight for the title after they won their respective semi-final matches. The Royal College player Wijemanne beat Dilwan Herath (6-1, 6-1) in his semi-final. Vairavanathan secured the final spot when he beat Zaidh Zihar 6-0, 7-5.

Meanwhile, in the Under 12 boys’ semi-finals Aahil Kaleel and Methika Wickramasinghe were the winners. Under 12 girls’ singles saw Akesha Silva and Githmi Fernando advancing to the final.
