Instead of making people panic by repeating that the new varians of corona virus was airborne, the government could easily use a few simple techniques to destroy it, President of the College of Medical Laboratory Science (CMLS), Ravi Kumudesh said yesterday.

Kumudesh told The Island that ultraviolet germicidal irradiation, HEPA filter, also known as high-efficiency particulate absorbing filter and Airborne Disinfection systems were widely available in the world, and they could be used to tackle airborne viruses.

“A number of countries introduced these systems to address the issue of airborne virus particles. We informed the President in September 2020 of the need to use such technologies. We said that we needed to reduce the virus load in places like labs and COVID-9 wards.’
