Krishan and Ayla crowned champions
Aarya Plus Challenge Trophy Table Tennis Championships
Krishan Wickramarathna of Vidyartha College, Kandy OBA and Ayla Chitty of Ladies College, Colombo were crowned champions at the Aarya Plus Challenge Trophy Table Tennis Championship – 2021 conducted by the Nugegoda Table Tennis Club conducted at the Bandaragama Indoor Stadium over the weekend.
Wickramarathna beat reigning National Champion Senura Silva of Ananda College, Colombo 3-2 in the final of the men’s singles event while Chitty beat Hansani Piumila of Sri Lanka Navy 3-2 in the women’s singles final.
Senura Silva who won the Under 19 and Under 17 boys’ singles titles was adjudged the Best Men’s Player and was awarded Aarya Plus Challenge Trophy and a cash award of Rs. 10,000.00, while Bimandee Bandara won the Best Women’s player title and a cash award of Rs. 10,000.00. Bandara was the winner of both the Under 19 and Under 17 girls’ singles titles.
Chitty beat top seed and current National Champion Muthumali Priyadharshani in the quarter-finals and third seed Bimandee Bandara in the semi-finals to book her final berth.
The Chief Guest at the finals was Nirushi Theodore, Brand Executive Aarya of the Raigam Marketing Services (Pvt) Ltd.
The Best Players ,Winners and Runners-up received cash awards at this three-day event. The awards, trophies and certificates were sponsored by Raigam Marketing Services (Pvt) Ltd.
