Kovil ceremony causes Covid-19 cluster

The COVID-19 cluster caused by a ceremony at Sri Murugan Kovil, Karaweddi, Jaffna, now consists of 62 patients. About 180 people took part in the kovil event recently.

Health officers have received complaints that the ceremony was conducted without adhering to health guidelines. They traced the participants and subjected them to PCR testing.

It was revealed that 62 of them had contracted COVID-19.

The patients have been sent for treatment while the others have been sent to quarantine. The kovil has been closed for 14 days.
