Korean ambassador Santhush meets Committee Members of Sri Lanka – Republic of Korea Association

On the 14th of February, ambassador Santhush Woonjin JEONG has the pleasure to greet the committee members of Sri Lanka – Republic of Korea Association at the Korean Embassy. Ambassador Santhush engaged in a fruitful discussion to promote bilateral cooperation more extensively between Korea and Sri Lanka with the committee members headed by the President of Sri Lanka – Republic of Korea Association, Prasad Gunaratne.

The Sri Lanka – Korea Association was founded in 1971 and was helmed by eminent presidents including the former Speaker of Sri Lanka Parliament Hon. Karu Jayasuriya. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, activities of the Association including the Annual General Meeting and other charitable events have been halted. Ambassador Santhush expressed his interest in reviving activities in cooperation with the Association to further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries.

Ambassador Santhush further added ‘this year is momentous as we celebrate the 45th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Sri Lanka. At the beginning of the year, there were several high level exchanges that took place to highlight our strengthened friendship. To celebrate this important milestone, I hope there will be intensified bilateral engagement, unprecedented levels of mutually beneficial cooperation and heightened people-to-people exchanges. The Korean Embassy is ready to extend its support to Sri Lanka – Republic of Korea Association to further bring our countries closer together.’
