Korean ambassador hosts a luncheon to felicitate Dr. Sunil Nawarathna and best Korean language teachers
Korean ambassador to Sri Lanka Santhush Woonjin Jeong hosted a luncheon to felicitate the Director General of the National Institute of Education, Dr. Sunil Nawarathna and the best Korean language teachers from island wide.
In the special luncheon ceremony hosted by the Korean ambassador, Santhush presented Dr. Sunil Nawarathna Director General of the NIE, the prestigious Citation Award from the from the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Education of the Republic of Korea, Yoo Eun-Hae. This award has been conferred in recognition of the outstanding contribution to the promotion of Korean language, development of future talent and advancement of the stature of Korean language based on his strong sense of duty. Sunil Nawarathna has played an active role in strengthening bilateral relations between Korea and Sri Lanka by adopting the Korean language as a foreign language in the advanced level curriculum of Sri Lanka from this year onwards.
Ambassador Santhush noted that “I highly value the significant achievement and contribution of Dr. Sunil Nawarathna to successfully promote Korean Studies in Sri Lanka. Also I deeply appreciate all the teachers who have faithfully attended the online capacity building programme of Korean language and shown great achievement! You have set a great example by successfully completing this programme and have become precious assets to Korea-Sri Lanka relations. Subapethum!!
