KOICA-AKOFE Knowledge Dissemination Programme – 2023

KOICA, the grant aid division of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, together with the Alumni Association of KOICA Fellows in Sri Lanka (AKOFE), conducted a Knowledge Dissemination Programme for the Students of the Faculty of Computing of the University of Sri Jayawardenapura on 23 August, 2023 at the University premises. AKOFE is an association which consists of alumni who have completed KOICA Fellowship Programmes in Korea to build capacity in their respective areas.

The event was grace with the presence of Ms. Kim Myung Jin, Country Director of KOICA, Kim Young Whan, Deputy Country Director of KOICA, Prof. Prasad Jayaweera Dean of the faculty of Computing, Prof. Heenkenda Dean of the faculty of Social Science, Roshan Serasinghe, President of AKOFE, AKOFE Executive Committee Members and few other senior professors and Academic staff of the University. While delivering the speech, Prof. Prasad Jayaweera stated that he would like to strengthen University activities with the support of KOICA in the future and he expressed his deepest gratitude for organizing such a valuable event.

Ms. Kim Myung Jin noted that “Education is the hope for the development of a country. When the youth is strong with a good education then the country also become strong. So it is essential to strengthen the education system of the developing countries.”

Education is a strong area of the cooperation between Korea and Sri Lanka. Dissemination is an interactive way of communicating the knowledge to the communities. KOICA–AKOFE Dissemination Programme was based on the key topics of Space Science. So we believe this Knowledge Dissemination Programme outcomes would be helpful to strengthen the effectiveness of the students and enhance their capacities in the areas covered.
