Keheliya arrested
The CID yesterday (02) questioned Environment Minister Keheliya Rambukwella on his alleged involvement in the procurement of fake human immunoglobulin vials during his tenure as the Health Minister.
Lawmaker Rambukwella who arrived at the CID around 9 am as directed by Maligakanda Magistrate Ms Lochana Abeywickrema was still there at the time this edition was closed.
The Attorney General’s Department has named the Kandy District MP as a suspect in the fake immunoglobulin case heard at the Maligakanda Magistrate court. Among those remanded in this connection pending further investigations was Janaka Chandragupta, who had served as the Secretary to the Health Ministry. Chandragupta who functioned as the Chief Accounting Officer of the Ministry was arrested in Dec last year soon after he retired as Secretary to the Ministry.
