Keeping Ugly Politics out of Power!

Was Ranil the real winner at the All-Party Conference?

Well, he did earn an apology from the President himself. Doesn’t that make him the winner?

Nonsense, the real winner was Cabraal.

Come on, how can you say that?

Ranil’s complaint and pain of mind was due to what Cabraal said about the Yahapalana days. President Gotabaya had no criticism of what Cabraal said. He was only apologetic on the pain felt by Ranil. The silence on Cabraal shows who the real powers are – All-Party or not.

Do you think Ranil going back to the arrival of Vijaya to Sri Lanka, carried the correct message?

That is political confusion worse confounded. Let’s not forget that Gotabaya’s swearing in as President, had everything to do with Vijaya’s arrival and the Sinhala race. Let’s not try to make gas, petrol and diesel lines, milk powder lines and food shortages anything to do with Vijaya, who is the thinking behind the Saubhagya of Gotabhaya – the Sinhala Balaya!

The Island

’s editorial (Friday 25th) is headlined – Let battle begin from kitchen – which is about the use of local brains that can have a pivotal role in development of the country, and making it less dependent on fossil fuel.

It has exposed the reality of the government’s and country’s dependence on foreign minds in solving our national problems. A foreign law firm is to be hired to assist in dealings with the IMF.

Come on, what about our Finance Minister himself? Was he not known as the “Maha Mola Karu” the bearer of the big brain? Is he not the real big player of the Rajapaksa Rajavasala today – a Finance Minister who sees no importance in attending Parliament in the midst of an economic crisis, and telling parliament anything about it – crisis or not?

The 11-party, so-called breakaway, or not agreeing to Pohottuva policies of the government, are very loud in their criticism of the ‘Maha Mola Karu” who they see as the Ugly American. Did these parties and their leaders – Wimal Weerawansa, Udaya Gammanpila and Vasudeva Nanayakkara and others – not know anything about the Ugly American when they all voted for the 20th Amendment to the Constitution? Is it not they who gladly paved the way for this Ugly American citizen and Sri Lankan politician, who did not contest the last general election, to be brought to Parliament and also be sworn in as the Finance Minister?

Was there nothing ugly, whether American or not, they saw in this member of the Rajapaksa brotherhood and family, when the 20A was promoted by brother Gotabaya? Did this Basil display his Ugly Americanism only after 20A was passed, or the trend of Gotabaya governance saw the necessity for these ‘leftwing catchers’ to be kept out of governance?

We are all caught in something much bigger than a single Ugly American in today’s misgovernance in Sri Lanka. The Rajapaksa Team are all ugly whether American or not, which includes brother Gotabaya with his recent American citizenship and his continuing American spouse and family.

The corruption that is in sway in this Gotabaya/Pohottuva misgovernance is the disastrous situation Sri Lanka faces today. The continuing queues for gas and fuel, the closing down of small restaurants and tea shops, is the very stuff of this Ugly Rajapaksa Misgovernance. It is time to stop showcase Opposition to an Ugly American, and move to a determined Opposition to every member of dirty Pohottuva Governance – the people must be urged to fight this Ugly and Dirty Pohottu Power – under the Rajapaksa Leadership.

This battle has to certainly begin in the kitchen of the people, who were so-much lied to in the search for power from the failure of the Yahapalanaya, to the well-planned terrorist move leading to the Easter Sunday carnage, and the display of crooked governance that is giving enough burdens to the people. The pain of the kitchen must be directed towards the exit of this Ugly Governance of political brotherhood!

We began this by asking whether Ranil was the winner at the All-Party Conference. Basil was also a player there, and a loser too. He was having a double-tongued comment on the IMF Draft on Sri Lanka. It is good to bear in mind that both these political players of today, were not elected by the people. Ranil was wholly defeated, and Basil never contested. Our worry in the kitchens must be on how to have a new constitution, where such ugly politicians – of whatever party and colour – could be definitely kept out of power in Sri Lanka.

The huge crowds that came to the SJB protest at Galle Face that moved to the Presidential Secretariat last week, and the similarly massive crowd that came to the JVP-led NPP rally at Nugegoda this week, must be kept informed of the dangers of all Ugly Politicians who will be seeking power from the pain of all queues and the aches of increasingly empty kitchens.

Keep all Ugly Politics, Parties and Politicians away from all power!
