Chit-Chat

Quite a few aspiring Anglo-Indian singers, I’ve seen performing, on social media, have been very impressive.

Shania Rodrigues, aka Shan Rodi, is one such performer, and I’ve checked out her singing capabilities, quite a few times, on TNGlive. Very impressive, indeed!

Shania is based in Dubai, with her family, and was delighted when I invited her for a Chit-Chat, and this is how it all went…

1. How would you describe yourself?

I would say I’m an easy-going, fun loving, optimistic kid who lives every day – like there’s no tomorrow – and believes in spreading love.

2. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

The one thing that I would like to change is the fact that I trust people too easily.

3. If you could change one thing about your family, what would it be?

I wouldn’t want to change anything about my family, ’cos I love them…just the way they are.

4. School?

I’m in high school (in Dubai) and, just like every high-schooler would say, “it’s not easy”…but I take part in a lot of singing competitions, and programmes, which is the only thing keeping me sane, through high school life.

5. Happiest moment?

I have nothing, in particular, to mention, because I believe that there can be many happy moments in a person’s life. And, I’ve experienced it, myself.

6. What is your idea of perfect happiness?

My idea of perfect happiness is a carefree world where hate doesn’t exist and people love each other for who they are.

7. Are you religious?

Growing up in a Catholic family, my parents always taught me the importance of religion, which has strengthened my faith in God.

8. Are you superstitious?

Yes, I am superstitious, and, some of these things, I believe in, are kind of crazy! Ok, for example my mum told me about the “rule of 3′ which, basically, means when something happens twice, it’s bound to happen for the third time…which I didn’t believe, until it happened to me a couple of times.

9. Your ideal guy?

My ideal guy is someone as crazy as my mum, and easy going as my dad…and who also believes in living life to the fullest, and spreading love and positivity, and also someone who will love my family, as much as I love them.

10. Which living person do you most admire?

I admire my mum and dad, the most, since they’ve never given up on life, and each other, no matter how rough the road gets.

11. Which is your most treasured possession?

My phone, since it keeps me connected with my entire family, my music (which is my life), my friends, and it keeps me entertained, wherever I am.

12. If you were marooned on a desert island, who would you like as your companion?

My sister because, although though she drives me crazy, she is way more responsible than I am, and she’s like my second mum (even though she’s younger than me)

13. Your most embarrassing moment?

When I was 10, I cried at my aunt’s wedding because they wanted me to sing and I got really nervous to sing in front of everyone.

14. Done anything daring?

I visited a haunted palace, with my family, ’cos I’m super interested in the paranormal, and love learning more about it.

15. Your ideal vacation?

My ideal vacation would be a relaxing stay in the Maldives, with my family, and my close friends, where we can all just chill out and do a whole lot of crazy stuff, and just have a blast!

16. What kind of music are you into?

I’m not into any specific genre of music. I like all kinds of music, like country, pop, RnB, K-pop, etc.

17. Favourite radio station:

Virgin Radio, ’cos the RJs are hilarious and keep you going, and they play really good music.

18. Favourite TV station:

I don’t have a favourite TV station, but I’m always watching stuff on Netflix.

19. What would you like to be born as in your next life?

Since I believe that mermaids are real, I would want be born as one, in my next life, because I think living underwater would be so cool.

20. Any major plans for the future?

I want to make it big in the music industry, which would be my biggest dream come true, and, apart from this, I also want to start my own interior designing company.
