Kaya leads Gold/Silver divisions

Junior Open Golf Championship 2021

Kaya Daluwatta will commence the final day with a comfortable lead in the girls’ combined Gold/Silver Divisions as she led day two with a score of 72 at the Sunrise Junior Open Golf Championship 2021 at the Royal Colombo Golf Club yesterday.

Kaya was leading by 14 shots. Sherin Balasuriya followed up her opening round of 78, with 82 taking her to a total score of 160.

Dhevinka Kanag- Iswaran was lying third with two rounds of 90 and Dinumi Sanjana Rajapakshe of Anuradhapura was closely behind in the fourth position

Yannik Kumara maintained his form with 69 shots on the second day. That took him to a four-shot lead from K. Dhanushan also playing same form with 71 gross on day two. Nirekh Tejwani last year’s junior national title holder remains in the game with two shots behind the leader group. Levon Niyarepola and Haroon Aslam are in fourth and fifth positions respectively.

In the silver division of the boys (12 – 14+) Age Group Category, Reshan Algama, Musar Shariff, Varun Fernando, Jacob Norton, Kvahn Tejwani and Shanal Binushka will fight for top honours in the final round.

Thejas Rathiskanth and Kaiyan Johnpillai were setting up an interesting finish in the last round in the bronze division (Age Group Category 10 -11 yrs) played over three rounds of 18 holes from red tees.

In the most junior category, copper division playing nine holes, Revaan Amarasinghe showed consistency with another good score of 48, followed by Saqeeb Zuhar (53) and Danik Daluwatte (63) on day two. Anuja Methsara from Anuradhapura was in contention for the fourth place.

Today is the final day of the Prima Sunrise Junior Open Golf Championship 2021 organized by the Sri Lanka Golf Union.
