Kaviratne blames ‘crow’ for her defeat

Matale District SJB MP Rohini Kaviratne told Parliament yesterday that the government was neither run by the President nor the Prime Minister but by a ‘crow’.

Addressing the House after the vote to elect a Deputy Speaker, MP Kaviratne said that it was so unfortunate that the government could not understand the value of the statement made by Prime Minister Wickremesinghe that it would be better to elect a female Deputy Speaker.

The government could not do so because a ‘crow’ was manipulating the voting MPs. “I congratulate newly elected Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapaksa and hope that he will be able to discharge his duties impartially. I still remember the day when I was verbally abused by an SLPP MP in this very Chamber. It was Ajith Rajapaksa who was in the Chair when that incident happened.
