Kaushalya five for, Maneesha, Dinitha half centuries guide Lumbini

Praveen Maneesha and Dinitha de Silva struck half centuries and Shahan Kaushalya grabbed five wickets as Lumbini took first innings advantage on day one of the Under 19 Division I Tier ‘B’ cricket quarter-final at Wijerama Mawatha on Monday.

Deciding to bat first Moratu Vidyalaya lost wickets at regular intervals as Shahan Kaushalya and Dumindu Sewmina shared eight wickets between them to restrict them to 105 runs. Kanchana Nimshan was the only batsman to top 20 runs.

In reply Lumbini lost two quick wickets as Himash Tharushka struck in consecutive balls in his second over. Lumbini were four wickets down for 56 runs at one stage but half centuries by Dinitha de Silva and Praveen Maneesha ensured that they recover from the initial collapse to reach 191 for five wickets at stumps.
