Pivithu Hela Urumaya (PHU) leader Udaya Gammanpila has sought official documents pertaining to India giving up claims for Katchatheevu Island from the Foreign Ministry.

The PHU leader told The Island that he felt the need for public disclosure of the relevant documents and what he called historical evidence as well as exchange of letters between India and Sri Lanka in the wake of India’s ruling Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP) raising Katchatheevu in the run-up to the Indian general election, scheduled to commence on April 19.

Attorney-at-Law Gammanpila has submitted his RTI questions, dated 11 April, to the Information Officer of the Foreign Ministry. (SF)
