Kandy vs Havies game the pick in fifth week of club rugby

Reigning champions Kandy SC will lock horns with Havelocks SC in a key inter-club division 1 league rugby tournament fixture scheduled to take place at Nittawela on Sunday (January 7).

Kandy SC has come unscathed this season producing four wins from four outings. The side is led by Lavanga Perera. Their star player this season is Tharinda Ratwatte who has accumulated 28 points with his kicking boots and try scoring abilities.

The top points scorers thus far in the tournament are Thenuka Nanayakkara of CR&FC and Hirusha Nethmina of CH&FC who have accumulated 40 points each. In third place is Samuel Maduwantha of Havies who has 33 points to his name.

Havelock SC is led by hooker Azmir Fajudeen. Havies lie third in the points table with three wins out of four outings. Kandy SC heads the points table and is followed by CR&FC in second place.

On Friday (January 5) Police SC host Army SC at Police Park.

On Saturday (January 6) CH&FC host Air Force SC at Race Course while Navy SC host CR&FC (the only unbeaten side other than Kandy SC) at Welisara.
