Kandy record massive win as Oshada sizzles

Oshada Fernando hammered 13 fours and four sixes in a knock of 138 runs that set the stage for Kandy to record thumping 155 runs victory over Dambulla in the National Super League Limited Over Tournament match at SSC on Sunday.

Fernando joined skipper Kamindu Mendis to put on a fourth wicket stand of 112 runs before adding 77 runs for the fifth wicket with Sahan Arachchige as Kandy amassed 318 runs.

In reply Dambulla could muster only 163 runs as Pulina Tharanga, Asitha Fernando and Kamindu Mendis excelled in the bowling department.

Skipper Ashan Priyanjan played a lone battle scoring a half century and kept them interested in the chase adding 50 runs for the eighth wicket with Anuk Fernando.

In the other match played yesterday Dhananjaya de Silva scored a half century before taking four wickets to steer Jaffna to 88 runs win over Galle.

Jaffna made 263 with De Silva and Santhush Gunathilaka making half centuries and in reply Galle were dismissed for 175 runs.
