Kalutara Teacher Training School overwhelmed by outbreak of fever

About 100 students at the Kalutara Teacher Training School have contracted fever.Forty of them have been sent home and the others are quarantined at the hostels.The Institution does not have adequate funds to provide nutritious meals.There are only two medical assistants to look after the sick students.

There are 14 hostels and two of them have been converted into quarantine centres. Head of the Institution, A.J.S. Basnayaka, said that they were trying their best to provide medical care to the sick.

“The only van we have is out of order. We can’t provide transport. The government has allocated only Rs 53 per head for meals. We are trying our best to manage,” he said.
