JVP Leader sees LG polls as one-horse race
JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake, on Monday, demanded that the investigators probing death threats received by the members of the Election Commission, also check the phone of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Addressing a rally in support of the JVP-led NPP at Ambalantota, the JVP leader said victory would be assured for the JVP-led NPP if the elections are held on March 09, and all reactionaries are disturbed by the imminent loss for their camp. “This election would mark a turning point of Lankan politics. This country had a past when the elections had been held back to back. They hold the elections when it is favourable for them. But now the times have changed. Therefore they tried and exhausted all possible means to delay the polls. After failing all their efforts now they resort to out of the book tactics. One of them is exerting pressure on the EC members – to get them to resign or to threaten them with death if they proceed to hold elections,” Dissanayake said.
“What we have before is a one-horse race as the SLPP, UNP and SJB have lost public trust. It is natural that all these reactionaries come together to derail the elections,” the JVP leader said.
