JVP leader says ministers use crises to line their pockets

JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake told Parliament on Thursday that the government ministers have no genuine desire to find solutions to problems that beset the nation as they have opted to make a business out of them to line their pockets.

“This has been the bane of this country throughout history. The rulers never tried to find solutions to problems people are facing. Instead they see them as opportunities to earn money. The latest instance is the X-press Pearl crisis,” he said.

“The way the well-known fraudsters in the House pointing fingers at each other shows that bags of money had changed hands. It is pathetic to see these rulers who have now amassed dollars out of this crisis trying to divert the attention of the public from reality.

“Several names have been often repeated in this clandestine affair. Among these names are Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, Ali Sabry, Ajith Mannapperuma and Nalaka Godahewa. It is a tragedy to witness a crisis of this nature,” the JVP leader said.
