Sacking of ministers, secretaries

BY CYRIL WIMALASURENDRE

KANDY – The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said in Kandy that the Head of State sacked ministers and removed ministry secretaries in a state of panic, fearing they would carry out more attacks on the government.

Dissanayake said that State Minister Susil Premjayanth and Agriculture Ministry Secretary had been removed as the President was feeling insecure.

“This is not an acceptable situation”, he said. He was responding to media when he called on the prelate of Asgiriya most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanaratana Maha Thera.

Dissanayake asked how Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa had offered a relief package after having openly admitted financial difficulties experienced by the government. From where will the funds now come from? The Parliament has a right to know the source of the funds, he queried.

The JVP leader warned that it was not advisable to print money. Printing money would only ruin the economy, he warned.
