JVP leader in New Delhi
The Island of 06 February published a photo of JVP leader Anura Dissanayake in New Delhi at a meeting with the Indian External Affairs Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar. He is said to have discussed Sri Lanka’s economic challenges and the path ahead. Obviously, he must have explained how he would solve the economic problems in Sri Lanka if he becomes the President at the next elections. But the problem is how can the people trust politicians who wear the ‘Kapati Suit’ to Parliament and at home and then get into an expensive colourful western attire when they are overseas. The late S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike after being appointed Prime Minister was invited as the chief guest at a ‘Kennel Show’. When the media in a lighter vein asked him why he was dressed in the western attire, he laughed and said that this suit is meant for occasions like this. What would the national minded JVP leader say if asked why he substituted a colourful expensive suit to the national dress he displays back at home?
