Justice Minister orders probe into allegation that Thilini faced sexual harassment in jail

Minister of Justice, Prisons Affairs and Constitutional Reforms Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe says an investigation has got underway into allegations that Thilini Priyamali, the proprietor of Thico Group of Companies who is currently in jail, suffered sexual harassment.

“I only got to hear about the incident from the media. We have also deployed prison guards near the cell where she is placed,” he said.

A doctor attached to the prison told The Island that only prison doctors and nurses could go to the ward where Priyamali is held. He said a number of female inmates accused of various crimes are also kept in the wing.
