Justice Minister inundated with calls relating to cremation

Justice Minister Ali Sabry says that 99 out of 100 calls he has received since he became a minister are about the issue of cremation of Muslim COVID-19 victims.

“Cremation is a pressing issue among the Muslims of this country. I am trying to find an amicable solution to the issue with the parties concerned, but some elements are trying to brand all of us as extremists. The WHO allows burial and 189 countries all over the world are practising it. At the beginning we were somewhat reluctant as we didn’t know much about this disease. But now we can reconsider this issue and find a solution.”
