Justice Minister briefs Swiss Ambassador on LTTEers in custody
Justice Minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, PC, has explained to the Swiss Ambassador in Colombo, Siri Walt, the measures taken by the government to prosecute LTTE cadres in custody.
The issue was taken up for discussion between the Swiss envoy and the Justice Minister recently when the former visited the Ministry, according to the Justice Ministry.
Dr. Rajapakshe has said that there were only a few LTTE cadres now in custody. The Ministry said that Dr. Rajapakshe told the diplomat how LTTE terrorism caused massive death and destruction over the years.
Sri Lanka brought the war to a successful conclusion in May 2009.
The Minister and the envoy also discussed the recently enacted ONUR (Office of National Unity and Reconciliation) Bill and the proposed establishment of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
