Jurie ready to give up Mrs. World title if …
Mrs. World Caroline Jurie yesterday said she was ready to give up her title following the recent controversy at the Mrs. Sri Lanka pageant last Sunday.
Making a statement on her official Facebook page she said that her actions at the pageant were driven by a desire to create a fair and equal stage for every contestant.
“All pageants have rules and regulations and these rules should apply equally to all,” she said. Jurie added that she was sorry if her actions had compromised what Mrs World stood for and hurt current or past winners beauty pageants.
“Rules not to there to find loopholes to win at any cost. Every woman is a queen who has stage that they can take part in,” she said.
Commenting on the recent pageant, Jurie said that she stepped down from the panel of judges the day before the event as her objections were ignored.
Jurie was arrested and released on police bail on Thursday following a complaint lodged by Mrs. Sri Lanka 2020 Pushpika de Silva. One of the demands, de Silva made was for Jurie to tender a public apology, a demand Jurie had refused.
