The entertainment scene is not only hotting up in our part of the world, but it’s also buzzing with excitement Down Under, especially in Melbourne, where many Sri Lankans now reside.

This generally happens when artistes from Sri Lanka are seen in action and this year we have had several making their presence felt in the scene over there.

Right now Sohan Weerasinghe is doing his thing in Melbourne and Sydney and the maestro is certainly a drawcard: His very first gig, ‘Christmas Bells 2023,’ on Sunday, December 9th, carried the ‘sold out’ sign, well in advance. Also sold out in advance was ‘Christmas with Noeline & Friends’ which took place on Sunday, December 10th…and the 31st night dinner dance, in Melbourne, featuring Sohan, has the ‘sold out’ sign as well.

‘Christmas with Noeline & Friends’ was packed and, according to reports coming my way, there was plenty of action, and the crowd loved it all.

Trevine Rodrigo,

who is based in Melbourne, checked out ‘Christmas with Noeline & Friends’ and sent us the following:

As the important day of the Christian calendar fast approaches, joyful parties are taking place all around Australia.

Esric Jackson and Shehan Wijewardena of the Walawwa, in Melbourne, organised a sellout Christmas party with Noeline Honter, Sohan Weerasinghe, Andrea Marr and popular band Ebony.

Esric Jackson himself added extra flavour to the event, with his own vocal renditions, to further liven up a great afternoon.

In addition to a lively crowd of afternoon revellers, a wide attendance of musicians gathered to take in a wonderful show.

Ash and Allison Jayasinha, Gwenie Khel, Cherrie Chamari, and a host of others were among those who showed up to take in the performance of two proven entertainers over the decades, Noeline and Sohan, And they were certainly not disappointed.

Both Noeline Honter and Sohan Weerasinghe showed that they have not lost their touch with beautiful renditions of Christmas songs, with the vocal harmony backing of Lozaine Paul and Thirani Karunatilake.

Andrea Marr added that something extra to a wonderful Christmas celebration at the Walawwa. She is a special talent.

Esric Jackson and Ebony created the mood for the important event in the Christian calendar with his version of “Blue Christmas “.

Noeline and Sohan also shared the vocals with the audience.

It was, indeed, a fun-filled afternoon.
