Joes book slot in schools’ rugby final by beating Wesley

St. Joseph’s College entered the final of the President’s Trophy Under 19 Schools’ Rugby Knockout Tournament by beating Wesley College in a semi-final fixture which was worked off at Havelock Park Yesterday (Sunday).The Josephians will now meet Isipatana in the knockout final.
The semi-final fixture produced a winner only in extra time because the game ended in a 13-all draw during normal time.The match winner for the Joes was kicker Ruchika Rodrigo who booted a penalty kick during the second half of extra time.
Wesley played well in the first half to lead 5-0 at halftime. The Josephians came into the game in the second half and earned a try through Jehan Athukorala while Rodrigo slotted in two penalties and a conversion; all in the second half.
