Island Dairies shines at SLIM SMED Awards

Managing Director of Island Dairies Sampath Liyanage receives the award

Island Dairies Private Limited bagged the Gold Award in Agriculture and Dairy Products Category and the Bronze Award in Fast Moving Consumer Goods Category at Small and Medium Enterprises Development Awards (SMEDA) 2022 organised by Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM). Island Dairies Managing Director Sampath Liyanage received the award at an event held at Grand Monarch Hotel in Colombo.

Founded as an individual project by Liyanage Karunarathna, Island Dairies has now expanded its branch network throughout the country and provided direct and indirect employment opportunities to many. It purchases milk from local farmers for best possible prices, and helps uplift the country’s economy and milk production. The Company also provides research opportunities for university students for their agriculture, animal husbandry, dairy and other related degree and diploma programmes.

Island Dairies’ wide range of products include Set Yoghurt, Fruit Yoghurt & Treacle Yoghurt, Three flavours of Drinking Yoghurt, Curd, Ice Cream full range with Pani Kadju, Ice Lollies, Orange Drink and Fresh Milk. Island Dairies supplies several milk products to Keels and Arpico in their brand names.

“We started Island Dairies as an individual project, but we have achieved great success over the past three decades. Our Company has been honoured with local and international awards. This time, receiving a national level SLIM award is a significant achievement for us, “said Managing Director, Sampath Liyanage.
