Is Queen Elizabeth a great woman?
I was amazed that Dr. Upul Wijewardena had called Elizabeth Windsor, Queen of England, a great woman. He has committed the further apostasy of coupling her name with that of Lata Mangeshkar.
This Elizabeth is a major beneficiary of the pillage that Britain engaged in over a couple of centuries, the net result
of which is that Britain and other looters became ‘rich’ and rendered the global ‘south’ ‘poor’. (Right now we have the spectacle of the USA trying to hold on to billions of dollars of the wealth of Afghanistan, Britain trying to hang on to the Malvinas and the Chagos islands and France to Martinique and other territories none of which belong to them.
Those who speak of how highly respected Elizabeth is should look at her record of viciousness towards her sister, and her daughters-in-law. (She is on record as having tried to prevent a memorial song – borrowed from one for Marilyn Monroe, also the victim of an assassination – being sung at the funeral of Diana. And now she’s bent on doing a further, hopefully last, venomous act against her memory by ‘elevating’, as far as that’s possible, her dumb son’s keep, Camilla, within her own ridiculous flock of ‘royals’.)
One is tempted to add to this list some of the uglies England has elevated into seats of some authority – let’s just name a few: Maggie Thatcher, Blair’s spouse, Teresa May, Priti Patel . . . . Specifics of their record in public life would be accessible from the public domain (not the public news agencies).
