Intelligence ordered to sniff out cops hooked on dope

Police Media Spokesperson, SSP Nihal Thalduwa yesterday said that intelligence officers had been deployed on the orders of the IGP to identify and arrest police officers who were addicted to narcotics.

Police headquarters sources said that among those taken into custody for their addition to drugs, were two probationary sub-inspectors.

Yesterday, a team of policemen nabbed a police constable with 50 milligrams of opium and several rounds of ammunition.Mirigama police said that the suspect was a drug addict.
