Inquiry into Dinesh Schaffter’s death: 20 cell phones, laptops of Brian Thomas and relatives to Govt Analyst

Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis on Thursday (4) ordered to send 20 mobile phones and laptops used by Janashakthi Group director Dinesh Schaffter and his business associate Mr. Brian Thomas and his close relatives to the Government Analyst and obtain a report.
The Criminal Investigations Department investigating the death of businessman Dinesh Schaffter filed a motion on Thursday (4) and stated that it will file the technical reports and post-mortem evidence discovered during the investigation before the court.
The Criminal Investigations Department, submitting the laptop and the mobile phone used by Mr. Schaffter, the laptop and the mobile phone used by his business associate Mr. Brian Thomas, and 20 mobile phones and laptops used by Mr. Schefter’s relatives, told the court that their technical reports have been called by the department.
The CID requested the court to send the evidence to the Government Analyst and obtain a report in order to compare with the technical reports obtained by the CID.The Magistrate, who considered the request, issued court orders to submit the exhibits presented to the court by the Criminal Investigations Department to the Government Analyst.
