Injunction against Port TU extended

An injunction issued by the Colombo District Court against the All-Ceylon General Ports Employees’ Union from resorting to work-to-rule campaign has been extended until 23 January by Colombo Additional District Judge Chamari Weerasuriya.

The All-Ceylon General Ports Employees’ Union initially planned to launch a work-to-rule campaign on 28 December 2023, demanding a salary increase.

However, the Colombo District Court on 28 Dec., issued an enjoining order against the trade unions of the Ports Authority, preventing them from staging a token strike that would disrupt the operations of the Colombo Port.
