Indi Yapa unveils ‘Serenity’

Renowned couturier and entrepreneur, Indi Yapa Abeywardena captivated audiences with the unveiling of the ‘Serenity by Indi’ Spring and Summer 2024 collection. The event took place recently at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo and was presented by Christell Luxury Wellness.

This marked the second iteration of the show and the decision made last year by lead designer Indi Yapa Abeywardena to break away from tradition by opting for an independent showcase has proven to be a stroke of genius.

‘Serenity by Indi’ was a testament to Indi’s artistic prowess, drawing inspiration from a state of calmness and tranquility The collection showcased an array of exquisite fabrics, fusion silhouettes, and meticulous hand-embellishments. Each silhouttes resonated with calm vibes and inspirations from Indi’s journey; motherhood, cherished memories, and the empowerment of women. The runway portrayed the chapters of Indi’s life with a narrative of serenity and bliss.

With over a decade of experience in the fashion industry, Indi has become a symbol of style and innovation, earning accolades for her pioneering contributions. The ‘Serenity by Indi’ showcase featured a harmonious fusion of artistry and modern craftsmanship, spotlighting intricate weaves, hand-embellishments, and fusion silhouettes that defined a new standard of elegance.

The colour palette characterised by lively and summerish tones, ranged from apricot summer symphonies with golden glimmers to ink blue, lavender shades, warmer beige, and a touch of black. Indi’s meticulous attention to detail, coupled with the use of dramatic drapes, luxurious textures, and exaggerated trains, revitalised classic silhouettes into contemporary masterpieces, leaving a lasting impression on the runway.

Special segments included the signature Indi bridal showcase presented by Chirstell Luxury Wellness and the Pure Gold by Tiesh segment featuring the latest jewellery collection, adding diversity and allure to the event. Leena Hari’s Studio and their team executed an excellent job with the model’s hair and makeup.

The event also witnessed the expertise of Indian International Show Director and Fashion Choreographer Sham Khan, alongside backstage manager Masoom, who came exclusively to Sri Lanka to orchestrate the show. The grand finale featured Indian supermodel Archana Akil Kumar, adding an extra layer of glamour and sophistication to ‘Serenity by Indi.’

In bringing together a fashion show of such grandeur, House of Indi and its dedicated team showcased commendable commitment and skill. The successful collaboration reaffirmed Indi Yapa Abeywardena’s position as a trailblazer in the world of fashion, leaving an indelible mark on the ‘Serenity by Indi’ Spring and Summer 2024 runway.
