Increased fuel quota to continue indefinitely

Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekera yesterday announced that the weekly fuel quota increased on account of the festive season, would remain unchanged in keeping with a decision taken on Monday during a progress review meeting with officials of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).

The increase in the quota had not affected the volume of fuel consumed by motorists.

However, with the increase in the fuel quota the attempts to obtain fuel outside the quota system had decreased, he said.
