Increase in DAT allowance result of GMOA proposal to Prez
An increase in the Disturbance, Availability, and Transport (DAT) allowance had been granted by President Ranil Wickremesinghe himself, sources said.
They said that President Wickremesinghe had done so in response to a request made by the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) several months back.
The new board of officers elected for the year 2023/2024 of the GMOA met President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Secretariat six months back. The GMOA delegation presented a set of proposals that dealt with the introduction of a new salary structure based on market value and performance, the revision of the salaries of doctors undergoing internship training to prevent brain drain, and the revision of allowances for doctors.
Sources said that the DAT allowance had been among the GMOA’s proposals. (SF)
