Inclement weather claims four lives

Four people had died by 8 am yesterday (23) in incidents related to bad weather, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said. Those deaths were caused earth slips and lightning. Several areas were submerged due to overflowing of rivers , the DMC said.Two women were killed on Wednesday evening in a earth slip at Uduwara, Haliela.

They were sleeping in their home when the tragedy struck.A 15 – year-old boy was killed at Galpatha, Batagoda due to a lightning strike on Wednesday afternoon. The boy was struck down by lightning at his home.One person was killed and four fruit stalls were destroyed during an earth slip at Peradeniya on Tuesday (21).
